Artist
United Kingdom
Dirtypaintbrush is a Classical Civilisation graduate currently living. He also happens to make emoticons very sporadically.

Dirtypaintbrush is also a misnomer as he hasn't used a paintbrush for any artistic purpose since year 9 art class.

Current Residence: Leeds
Favourite genre of music: Rock
MP3 player of choice: I use my PSP these days
Favourite cartoon character: Gambit hands down, i want explody-cards and a stick
Personal Quote: "I'm a firm believe in the philosophy of a ruling class. Especially since I rule"
Interests
So. Today I logged in to deviantart for the first time in a very VERY long time. What's up with the logo?

As expected my message centre was heaving. Mostly deviations, journals etc. As I haven't submitted anything new in approximately since-the-dawn-of-time I only had 7 comments. But what really made me smile was seeing over 2000 mentions.

This isn't a large number to some people I imagine but I was never hugely active or popular so there.

The real reason that this made me happy though is this:

I remember back when I was making emoticons. There was always discussion going on about what form they should take. Can a long-form emoticon be considered an emoticon? Can a 1000x1000 pixel image be an emoticon? While I nevertook a side in this discussion and LOVED looking at what you crazy talented people could do with pixels I always, always wanted to do short form stuff. I wanted the majority of my emoticons to be usable on message boards and in chats.

The fact that so many people (people who I'm sure have never SEEN my dA page) use some of my stuff proves that occasionally I got it right. And that's awesome.

This isn't a triumphant return, I never could view emoticons properly on this screen I'm using and frankly, I don't have any idea (though I'm kind of itching to touch up some older things...). I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has ever used one of my little wastes of time. It means a surprising amount.
